
United Resolve: BSF & BGB’s Bold Pledge to Combat Border Threats at Shillong Conference – Northeast News
SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) have pledged to collaboratively combat insurgent activities and various cross-border crimes to ensure peace and tranquillity along the international border. This commitment was formalized during the four-day Inspectors General BSF – Region Commanders BGB level Border Coordination Conference, which concluded in Shillong on Thursday.
The BSF delegation was spearheaded by IG Tripura Frontier Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, while the Bangladeshi contingent was led by Md Shazedur Rahman, Additional Director General and Region Commander, Chattogram. The conference culminated in the signing of the Joint Record of Discussion (JRD), reinforcing the united front of both forces.
IG Das emphasized the strong dedication of both the BSF and BGB towards enhancing their existing cordial relations and developing effective solutions to bilateral challenges. He outlined the primary objectives of the conference, stressing the importance of bolstering border management mechanisms, addressing mutual concerns, and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
An integral part of the conference was the discussion on confidence-building measures. IG Das highlighted the importance of the regular Border Coordination Conferences in fostering a friendly relationship between the two forces. He underscored the initiatives aimed at promoting cultural and sports exchanges, which are expected to build camaraderie and mutual respect.
Over recent years, the BSF and BGB have deepened their bond of friendship and trust, effectively resolving border issues through meaningful dialogue at various command levels. Das expressed optimism about the future, stating, “Our shared vision of a peaceful and secure border can only be realized through continuous dialogue and cooperation. I look forward to further strengthening our partnership in the coming months and years.”
The conference marks a significant step towards ensuring a secure and cooperative frontier, reflecting both countries’ commitment to ongoing dialogue and enhanced mutual understanding.
