Together We Serve: SBC Convenes Landmark 35th Biennial Session
The Sümi Baptist Convention (SABAK/SBAK/WSBAK) convened its 35th Biennial Session at Trinity Theological College (TTC), Thahekhü, in Dimapur on October 24 and 25, drawing pastors, women pastors and youth pastors from 361 Baptist churches under the Convention under the theme “Together We Serve.”
The two-day gathering sought to strengthen fellowship, renew participants’ commitment to Christian ministry and deliberate on their responsibilities within the Church and society at large.
Principal speakers at the session included Rev Kughato K. Chophi, president of the Sümi Baptist Convention; Rev Dr Khehovi Shohe, director of the Convention; and Alito V. Swu, acting executive secretary of SABAK. In their messages, the speakers urged church leaders to uphold Christian values and carry out their ministries with dedication, humility and integrity. They also underlined the importance of unity, cooperation, spiritual maturity and a shared commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God.
Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi, and Atokükau Kakheho Yeptho of Thahekhü Village also addressed the gathering. Their exhortations centred on responsible leadership, commitment to service and constructive engagement in society.
Adding depth to the proceedings, Inaje Phuleshe, retired director of Rural Development, and Hoto Yeptho, retired director of Land Resources, presented papers aimed at equipping church leaders with insights into leadership, responsibility and effective service.
The session served as a platform for delegates from the various Baptist churches to exchange ideas, deepen fellowship and reaffirm their dedication to the mission of the Convention.
Following the conclusion of the biennial event, the SBC Planning Board issued a statement expressing gratitude to the speakers, dignitaries, delegates, paper presenters and other contributors for their participation and support, which it credited for the successful conduct of the session. The board also extended its appreciation to the principal, faculty, staff and students of Trinity Theological College, Thahekhü, for hosting the programme and providing the necessary facilities and support.
