Arunachal CM Unveils Ambitious ‘Mission Olympic’ Roadmap to Ignite State’s Olympic Dreams
Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced the state government’s plan for ‘Mission Olympic 2028’ and ‘Mission Olympic 2032’ as part of an ambitious 100-day action plan. The initiative aims to develop a roadmap within the first hundred days of the new government, targeting the identification and nurturing of Olympic-caliber athletes.
Speaking at the inauguration of a FIFA Standard Artificial Turf Football Ground at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium, Khandu emphasized the goal of sending a significant number of athletes from Arunachal Pradesh to represent India at the Olympics. The Chief Minister also revealed that a new Youth Policy is being formulated under the 100-day plan to cultivate young talents in various fields.
Khandu extended congratulations to the district’s youth and sports enthusiasts while announcing that similar FIFA-standard facilities will be installed in all district headquarters. He noted the inauguration of ten such grounds statewide during a program in Roing, with plans to extend these facilities to all Assembly constituencies and panchayat levels.
To ensure the upkeep of the newly inaugurated artificial turf ground, Khandu proposed that the High Altitude Stadium be administered by the Tawang district unit of the Arunachal Olympic Association. He remarked that the stadium, replete with a track, would inspire sports enthusiasts and foster regional talent.
Highlighting the Tawang Marathon’s success last year, Khandu announced its joint organization by the state government and the Indian Army based in Tawang, starting from this year. Scheduled annually on October 24 to commemorate United Nations Day, the event is now set to receive a Rs 2 crore grant-in-aid from the state and will be promoted as an international event.
Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering, Kalaktang MLA Tseten Chombay, former MLA Tsering Tashi, and 190 Mtn Brigade Commander Brig VS Rajput were also present at the occasion.
