Shocking Revelation: Udhayanidhi Stalin Downplays ‘Deputy CM’ Role Amid All Ministers’ Equal Status
Amidst speculations about his potential elevation to Deputy Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu’s Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, downplayed the rumors on Saturday. Addressing the 45th foundation day of the DMK youth wing in Chennai, Udhayanidhi stated that all ministers in the Tamil Nadu government are effectively deputy chief ministers.
“There are many news reports about the deputy CM elevation. I have previously told the press that all ministers in our government are deputy CMs,” remarked Udhayanidhi, who is also the DMK Youth Wing Secretary. He emphasized that it is up to Chief Minister MK Stalin to make the final decision on any such promotion. “The Chief Minister has to decide,” he added.
Highlighting his dedication to his current role, Udhayanidhi expressed that the position of youth wing secretary is particularly significant to him. “Whatever post, the youth wing secretary is my favorite,” he shared.
Udhayanidhi also encouraged DMK youth wing members to be active on social media for at least ten minutes each morning and evening. He set an ambitious goal for the youth wing to recruit a member from every household.
Confident about the DMK’s prospects in the next assembly election in 2026, Udhayanidhi exuded optimism about the party’s re-election. “The 2026 election is our target. We must work to achieve a victory similar to the last election. Our leader, CM MK Stalin, will be re-elected as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is the DMK alliance that will win the 2026 election,” he asserted.
Recent comments by DMK’s Organising Secretary RS Bharathi have further fueled speculations about Udhayanidhi’s promotion. Bharathi mentioned that elevating Udhayanidhi would be advantageous for the party in the 2026 elections. “The chief minister has to decide on elevating his son as his deputy. This is our aspiration too. But ultimately, it is the CM who should decide,” Bharathi noted.
