Apple’s New iPad Mini: How to Buy Yours Before They Sell Out
Apple will launch the new iPad mini on Nov. 6, with preorders opening at Apple on Oct. 28. Prices start at $699 for the 128GB model with standard glass, giving buyers an early chance to secure the compact tablet ahead of the holiday season.
The lineup also includes 256GB and 512GB storage options for buyers who need more space. Apple is offering the iPad mini with nano-texture glass as well, starting at $899 for the 256GB model, the smallest configuration available with the upgraded glass.
The 8th-gen iPad mini keeps the same overall size as the previous model but increases the display to 8.5 inches by thinning the bezel. Apple has equipped it with the A20 Pro chip, addressing a concern from Mashable’s review of the 7th-gen model, when Senior Tech Editor Stan Schroeder criticized Apple’s decision to use the A17 Pro instead of the A18 Pro.
The new iPad mini features an OLED display with more than twice the peak brightness of the 7th-gen model, reaching up to 1,200 nits. It also includes a 12MP center camera for video calls and is water- and dust-resistant.
Apple is positioning the iPad mini as an easy-to-hold, travel-friendly tablet, and the 7th-gen model previously earned the top spot for reading in Mashable’s review of the best iPads. The launch comes as Apple continues a busy 2026 product cycle that has already included the foldable iPhone Duo and a new smart speaker. With preorders beginning Oct. 28 and launch set for Nov. 6, the 8th-gen iPad mini is positioned as a portable companion for upcoming holiday travel.
