
Catastrophic Blaze: Major Fire Erupts in Moga, Devastates Essential Transformers
A significant fire erupted in the powerhouse of Singhan Wala village in Moga, Punjab, on July 20, causing extensive damage. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. The incident critically impacted and damaged multiple transformers in the area.
This event is reminiscent of a similar occurrence on May 10, when a blast at one of the electricity transformers in the 220 kV power grid station in Singhan Wala village led to a complete power shutdown in the Malwa region. The previous blaze resulted in the total destruction of approximately 26 transformers of various capacities, including 11 kV, 12.5 kV, and 132/5 kV.
The recurring incidents highlight significant vulnerabilities in the region’s electrical infrastructure, necessitating immediate attention and robust safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
