Two PLA Cadres Arrested: Shocking Seizure of Arms, Explosives, and Cash
Security forces in Manipur have apprehended two members of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which is the militant wing of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF). The operation resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of arms, ammunition, explosives, and cash totaling Rs 3.2 lakh. The Manipur Police reported on Wednesday that these arrests and seizures occurred in several vulnerable areas across two valley districts on Tuesday.
In the first operation, police arrested an active cadre of the PLA from Malom Makha Leikai, which falls under the Nambol police station in Bishnupur district. The detained individual, identified as Maibam Manishwar Singh, age 53, hails from Wabagai Mayai Leikai located along Mayang Imphal Road in Kakching district. During the raid, authorities discovered three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, a vehicle, and Rs 3,25,000 in cash in his possession.
In a subsequent operation, another member of the PLA/RPF, 26-year-old Wangkhem Malangba Meitei, was apprehended at his home in Keibul Awang Thana Leirak, also within Bishnupur district.
A third operation took place at the Kharungpat Marin Buffalo Farm area, under the jurisdiction of Kakching police. Following an extensive hour-long search, the forces recovered additional arms and ammunition. The operations highlight the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat insurgency in the region.
