GUWAHATI: Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Launched by Former Cotton College Students

In a commendable act of community service, former students of the esteemed Cotton College organized a voluntary blood donation camp in Guwahati on Sunday. The newly established Cottonians HS 2000 Batch Welfare Society, comprising alumni from the 1998-2000 Higher Secondary batch, collaborated with Health City Hospital to make this initiative successful.

This blood donation camp marks the first significant activity of the Cottonians HS 2000 Batch Welfare Society since its inception in June. The event took place at Health City Hospital’s blood center from 10 am to 2 pm, witnessing a substantial turnout of voluntary donors. Their contributions are expected to be life-saving for many individuals in need.

Dr. Gitali Devi, a member of the society, expressed gratitude: “Our reunion last month, marking 24 years since we passed higher secondary, inspired us to collectively contribute to society. We are thrilled to initiate this campaign, which holds the potential to save lives. It was an excellent opportunity for us to unite, give back to the community, and positively impact those in need.”

Dr. Karabi Barman, Blood Centre In-Charge at Health City Hospital, lauded the initiative: “Donating blood is a noble act that can save lives. We are delighted to support this group of former Cotton College students who have enriched our blood bank through their camp. We look forward to future collaborations with the Cottonians HS 2000 Batch Welfare Society.”

The Cottonians HS 2000 Batch Welfare Society was formed with the support of nearly 400 former students from the Science and Arts streams who graduated in 2000. Demonstrating a true spirit of generosity and community service, the group aims to undertake more such initiatives that are expected to bring positive changes to society.
