Shocking Drop: HAL Share Price Crashes 7% Today – Discover the Alarming Reasons Behind the Plunge!
HAL Shares Tumble Nearly 7% Amid Valuation Concerns
Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) shares faced a significant downturn on Thursday, dipping almost 7% following a similar trend that began on Tuesday when the stock fell over 3%. The shares opened flat at Rs 5,325 compared to the previous close of Rs 5,329.40, ultimately hitting a low of Rs 4,975. This decline is attributed to intensified selling pressure within the defense sector, coinciding with the upcoming budget announcement.
Brokerage firm InCred highlighted valuation concerns, comparing HAL unfavorably to its global peer, Dassault Aviation. While Dassault reported higher revenues and profit margins, HAL’s enterprise value stands notably higher at $41 billion compared to Dassault’s $6.7 billion. Analysts from InCred suggest that Dassault’s revenue and earnings are expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 24% and 12%, respectively, versus HAL’s 13% and 8%.
The current consensus among analysts is optimistic however, with 14 out of 16 providing a "buy" rating for HAL. Despite the recent losses, the consensus price target indicates a potential upside of 4%. Notably, HAL shares have demonstrated impressive long-term performance, yielding a 70% increase over six months and a 163% return over the past year.
Market data revealed a 60% increase in small shareholders from the previous quarter, while domestic mutual funds and Foreign Portfolio Investors trimmed their stakes slightly. Nevertheless, the stock has surged 80% in 2024 so far.
With HAL being a key component of the BSE 100 index, it remains a strong performer despite the recent volatility. Investors are advised to consult with certified experts before making investment decisions, as the market remains influenced by broader economic factors and sector trends.
