Shocking Revelation: In-Laws Bury Woman in 10-Foot Pit in Faridabad-Cops Unravel Chilling Murder Mystery After Two Months!
In a chilling case that has gripped the community, Tannu Kumar, a 25-year-old woman, was allegedly murdered and buried in front of her home by her in-laws in Faridabad, Haryana. Tannu, who hailed from Shikohabad in Firozabad district, Uttar Pradesh, married Arun Singh two years ago and had faced persistent harassment for dowry from her in-laws.
Authorities revealed that the Singh family concealed Tannu’s death for nearly two months by falsely reporting her as missing. On April 23, her husband, Arun Singh, and his father, Bhoop Singh, reportedly summoned an earthmover and dug a ten-foot deep pit in the street outside their residence. The following day, they hired a mason to fill the pit, before approaching local police to file a missing person report, even labeling Tannu as mentally challenged.
Tannu’s father, Hakim, grew increasingly concerned when he noticed the freshly covered pit during a visit to the family’s home. He alleged that his complaints to the police were dismissed despite his suspicions regarding his daughter’s disappearance. “When I visited their house, I felt something was amiss, especially with the pit outside,” Hakim stated. He explained that Tannu had been forced to temporarily stay at her parental home due to ongoing strife surrounding dowry, only returning to her in-laws after a local community meeting intervened.
The truth about her fate came to light when authorities were alerted due to Hakim’s insistence and a police investigation was launched. Tannu’s body was recovered on Friday after a search conducted in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh. “The pit was initially dug for a sewer connection, as the area lacks a formal drainage system. The family filled it with sand after committing the act, burying her under the cover of darkness,” reported Inspector Satya Parkash, Station House Officer of Palla police station. Community members were reportedly unaware of the horrific events unfolding right before them.
After a post-mortem at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, police have returned Tannu’s body to her family. Authorities have charged four family members-Bhoop Singh, his wife Sonia, son Arun Singh, and daughter Kajal-with involvement in the crime. Bhoop Singh and Arun Singh are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
As investigations continue, community members remain in shock over the brutal nature of the crime. This tragic incident highlights ongoing issues surrounding dowry harassment and domestic violence, raising urgent questions about societal norms and legal safeguards for women in India. The case has garnered significant local attention, prompting calls for justice and greater awareness regarding women’s rights and protection against domestic abuse.
In the wake of this harrowing event, police and community leaders are urged to take action to ensure the safety and dignity of women, combating the deeply entrenched issues of dowry and domestic violence within society. As the investigation unfolds, further updates are anticipated from law enforcement as they work to ensure accountability and justice for Tannu Kumar.
