Tawang: We Stand in Unity at Tiranga Yatra for Our Armed Forces
Thousands gathered in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, today for a significant Tiranga Yatra, marching from the Giant Buddha statue to the Tawang War Memorial, sending a robust message of solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. The event, spearheaded by NCC cadets from Higher Secondary School, Jang, brought together monks, nuns, students, political party members, and civilians, showcasing a rare collective commitment to national security and unity.
A highlight of the march was the cadets’ inspiring band performance, which set a solemn yet spirited tone for the occasion. The gathering concluded at the Tawang War Memorial, where emotional patriotic performances took place, including a dance by students from Manjushree Vidyapeeth and soulful songs by local artists Vishal and Rinchin Zomba.
During his address, Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering commended the armed forces for their bravery and sacrifice, particularly honoring those who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He praised the Indian military’s firm response to terrorism, referring to it as “decisive and fitting action.”
Tsering expressed gratitude to all political parties for putting aside their differences to unite for this national cause. He also extended special thanks to Dhobley Rinpoche, the Abbot of Sera Je Jamyang Choekorling Monastery, and the monks and nuns from surrounding monasteries for their visible support.
“This Tiranga Yatra is more than a symbolic gesture. It reflects our emotional bond with the armed forces and reaffirms our shared responsibility in safeguarding the nation,” he stated, highlighting the importance of civil-military cooperation in the region and calling it a model for the country.
In a show of respect, Tsering honored senior military officials by presenting them with traditional swords and ceremonial scarves, underscoring Tawang’s enduring connection with the armed forces.
