मुख्य आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर, चिरांग में 25 लाख रुपये का बर्मा टीक लकड़ी जब्त
In a significant operation against illegal timber trading, a combined team from Sidli Police and Chirang Forest Department intercepted a ten-wheeler container alleged to be smuggling valuable Burmese teakwood. The operation occurred late last night, following specific intelligence, and led to the vehicle’s seizure on National Highway 27 near Kashikotra, within the jurisdiction of Sidli Police Station.
The container, registered in Uttar Pradesh under the number UP 21 AN 7131, was reportedly carrying illegal timber valued at around Rs 25 lakh. Officials confirmed the timber was high-demand Burmese teak, and it was being transported without the necessary documentation.
Authorities have successfully secured both the container and its contents, with the ongoing investigation focusing on tracing the origin and intended destination of this illegal shipment. However, no concrete information has been revealed yet regarding the source of the smuggled timber or its intended market. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the investigation to dismantle the cross-state smuggling network involved in this illicit trade.
