Exciting Budget 2024: Nirmala Sitharaman Announces Inspiring Kashi Temple Model for Bihar’s Bodh Gaya
In her Union Budget 2024 speech on Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans to transform the Vishnupad Temple Corridor in Gaya and the Mahabodhi Temple Corridor in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, into world-class pilgrim and tourist destinations. Emphasizing their immense spiritual significance, she stated that the development would follow the successful “Kashi Model” implemented at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple corridor.
A comprehensive development project for both corridors will be supported to enhance their infrastructure and appeal, thereby boosting tourism. Special funds have also been allocated for the Rajgir Jain Temple site, notable for its religious importance to Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. Highlighting Rajgir’s sacred elements, such as the 20th Tirthankara Munisuvrata temple and the Saptharishi’s warm water Brahmakund, Sitharaman affirmed the government’s commitment to its development.
Sitharaman also mentioned plans to support the development of tourism in Odisha, citing its temples, monuments, wildlife sanctuaries, natural landscapes, and pristine beaches as key attractions.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister revealed that the government intends to introduce an economic policy framework aimed at next-generation reforms to bolster economic growth. This budget marks Sitharaman’s seventh presentation and the first of the third term of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
For her budget presentation, Sitharaman chose a professional yet traditional off-white checkered handloom saree paired with a contrasting purple and pink-hued blouse, adding a cultural touch to the formal proceedings.
Overall, the Union Budget 2024 lays significant emphasis on enhancing India’s religious and natural heritage sites, aiming to position them as premier global destinations while also setting the stage for robust economic reforms.
