CM Triumphantly Attends Prestigious World Heritage Event in New Delhi

Agartala, 21st July 2024: Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha Attends Inaugural Session of World Heritage Committee in New Delhi

In a landmark event, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha participated in the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi on Sunday. The session, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Chief Guest.

The opening ceremony, held at Bharat Mandapam on July 21, 2024, at 7 PM, marked the first time India is hosting the prestigious World Heritage Committee Meeting. This significant cultural forum will convene from July 21 to 31, 2024.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the event, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to global heritage conservation. The World Heritage Committee, which meets annually, plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper management of World Heritage sites and determining new additions to the World Heritage list.

In addition to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the event was graced by several high-profile attendees, including Union Minister for External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, and Union MoS (I/C) for Statistics and Program Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh. Their collective presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in heritage preservation and cultural diplomacy.

The meeting in New Delhi is expected to address several significant matters related to global heritage conservation and further cement India’s strategic role on the world stage in cultural preservation.

By bringing together a diverse group of influential leaders and experts, the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee promises to be a pivotal platform for discussing and advancing the global heritage agenda.
