Nagaland Madrigal Singers Triumph with Double Gold at World Choir Games 2024: A Moment of Glory and Pride
The Nagaland Madrigal Singers have brought glory to India by clinching two Gold Medals at the prestigious World Choir Games 2024 in New Zealand. The competition, renowned as the world’s largest choral event, took place in Auckland starting July 10 and drew over 11,000 participants from 42 countries.
Under the leadership of Hito Kiho, the Nagaland Madrigal Singers triumphed in the categories of Contemporary Music Mixed Voices and Mixed Chamber Choir, securing gold in both. This remarkable feat is particularly noteworthy as the choir was founded only in September 2023 by Kiho.
The team’s outstanding performance prompted congratulations from Nagaland’s Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio. In a social media post, Rio expressed pride in the Singers’ achievement, emphasizing that they have brought great honor to both the country and the state. He further wished them continued success in their future endeavors.
This notable accomplishment by the Nagaland Madrigal Singers not only underscores their exceptional talent and dedication but also puts Indian choral music on a global pedestal.
