Miraculous Save: Security Forces Brave Heart-Stopping Defusal of 8 IEDs in Manipur’s Imphal East

A potential disaster was narrowly avoided in Manipur’s Imphal East district yesterday when a collaborative effort by the Indian Army and State Police led to the discovery and neutralization of eight Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The devices were found in the Moirangpurel and Itham villages, areas predominantly utilized by farmers and cattle grazers.
Responding to specific intelligence regarding concealed IEDs, an Army unit swiftly deployed a bomb disposal squad to the Siachang Itham area. The bomb squad successfully defused the IEDs, which weighed approximately 33 kilograms, averting a significant threat to security forces and commuters alike. A defense spokesperson remarked that this operation dealt a severe blow to malicious elements intending to conduct subversive activities in the region.
Just days earlier, on July 17, a similar joint operation between the Indian Army and Manipur Police in Chanung led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition. Items recovered included 13 long-range mortars, four Burmese iron rods, an IED, a modified grenade launcher, a G3 rifle, six .303 rifles, a .22 pistol, a grenade, 25 locally made IEDs, 115 rounds of various ammunitions, three magazines for multiple weapons, two radio sets, and other war-like stores.
These successful operations underscore the ongoing efforts and vigilance of security forces to thwart nefarious activities and ensure the safety in the region of Manipur.
