
Breaking: Fourth Arrest Sparks Hope in Harrowing East Jaintia Hills Quadruple Murder Case
Police in East Jaintia Hills District have apprehended a fourth suspect in connection with the recent quadruple murder in Umpleng village. District Police Chief Giri Prasad confirmed the arrest on July 20, increasing the total number of detainees to four as part of the thorough ongoing investigation.
The case, identified as Khliehriat PS Case No. 49(07)2024 under section 103/3(5) BNS, involves the gruesome discovery of four bodies in the Umpleng area on July 6. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were murdered.
Prasad has refrained from disclosing the identities of the detained individuals due to the sensitive nature of the investigation. He emphasized that efforts are actively continuing to locate and apprehend any remaining suspects involved in the crime.
The horrific scene came to light when laborers working in a secluded area behind the Umpleng market stumbled upon the bodies on the morning of July 6. The crime scene was notably violent, with all four victims found bound by rope and bearing extensive trauma. One victim’s injuries were especially severe, with the head nearly severed.
This recent arrest comes after the earlier detention of three suspects by East Jaintia Hills police, underscoring the seriousness and complexity of the case. The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the full scope of the crime and bring all involved to justice.
