Breaking News: Manipur DMU Syndicate Greenlights Staff Recruitment Amidst Intense Student Protests
The Syndicate of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) has decided to release the long-awaited results for crucial teaching and non-teaching staff positions, fulfilling a significant demand of the student community.
Gyan Prakash, Commissioner of Higher Education and Acting Vice-Chancellor of DMU, confirmed this development following a syndicate meeting. “The syndicate has agreed, so we will be declaring the results hopefully by this evening,” Prakash stated.
The meeting also addressed the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor. Prakash noted that a list of qualified professors would be presented to the select committee, which will recommend the final candidate for the VC position.
In addition to these announcements, Prakash revealed plans to conduct the sixth-semester examinations shortly, with results anticipated by August 20. He acknowledged previous delays due to a shortage of non-teaching staff but assured that steps are being taken to rectify the situation.
Confronting the ongoing student protests and hunger strikes, Prakash appealed to students to end their demonstrations and return to their studies, stressing that their demands are being addressed.
Despite these assurances, the Student Union of Dhanamanjuri University remains steadfast. At the protest site, DMU Student Union President Takhellambam Dijen declared that the hunger strike would persist until the new VC’s appointment letter is issued. Dijen attributed the progress made to the strong student movement.
The resolution of these key issues may mark a turning point for DMU, but the student community remains vigilant in ensuring that their demands are fully met.
