Desperate Struggle Amid Torrential Rains: Arunachal’s Roads Blocked by Landslides, Heroes at Work to Restore Hope
On the night of July 3, the Pangin to Aalo road in Arunachal Pradesh was blocked due to heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides, causing significant disruption for commuters who were stranded by the sudden event.
Authorities responded swiftly upon receiving information about the blockade. Restoration efforts commenced immediately to clear the debris and restore normalcy. The incident accentuated the logistical and safety challenges posed by the region’s harsh weather conditions.
In a preventative measure earlier on July 3, local authorities had issued an advisory to residents of the Donyi Dokum Colony, cautioning them against using the Ganga Jullang Road to Donyi Dokum Colony. This advisory was issued amid concerns that the road was on the verge of collapse due to relentless rains, posing a significant risk of it sinking or being washed away. The residents were directed to use an alternative route via Bread Factory CC Road for their daily commutes, to safeguard their lives and property.
The precautionary steps included directives for the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), CD-B, to place visible banners at the entry points of the compromised route, informing the public about the danger and detour. Additionally, they were instructed to take suitable actions for the required restoration work.
These proactive and reactive measures underscore the region’s battle with extreme weather and the ongoing efforts to safeguard public safety while maintaining essential infrastructure. The authorities’ immediate response and the advisories issued are pivotal in mitigating further risks and ensuring the well-being of the residents.
