Meghalaya Collectives opened its first physical store in the state on November 4, bringing products from farmers, cooperatives, self-help groups, artisans and rural entrepreneurs under one roof in Shillong. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Timothy D. Shira inaugurated the outlet, located below Dylan’s Café, which is led by the Meghalaya State Agricultural Marketing Board and aims to connect local producers with wider retail and institutional markets.
The Shillong store builds on Meghalaya Collectives’ existing outlet in Delhi, its online presence, including Amazon, and its business partnerships. It will remain open daily from 10 am to 10 pm.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shira said the initiative would help link the work of farmers, artisans and rural entrepreneurs with better market opportunities. He noted that the state had facilitated market linkages for more than 2,100 metric tonnes of agricultural produce, generating trade worth approximately Rs 22 crore.
The event also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Meghalaya Collectives and Mandya Organic Foods Private Limited, which operates under the brand Organic Mandya. The agreement outlines plans to provide dedicated shelf space for selected Meghalaya products at retail outlets in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and future locations. The proposed shelves will carry Meghalaya Collectives branding and information about the products’ makers and places of origin.
The programme included the release of the Meghalaya Collectives Product Handbook – Store Edition 2026–2027 and a business-to-business networking workshop connecting producers with prospective buyers. The platform supports products under its own label, co-branded products and independent brands that receive marketing and distribution support while retaining their own identities.
