Patna, Sep 29: Hundreds of job aspirants held separate protests in Patna on Tuesday over delays in teacher and Group D recruitment. TRE-4 candidates demonstrated outside Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari’s residence, seeking eligibility for CTET 2026 candidates in the BPSC recruitment process. About 500 Group D aspirants began a sit-in after police blocked their march toward the Chief Minister’s residence near JP Golambar.
The CTET candidates want an opportunity similar to the one provided to those who appeared for the State Teacher Eligibility Test. Group D demonstrators carried the Tricolour, posters and banners while demanding appointments and completion of the long-pending recruitment process. Some brought folding cots, and protesters said they had been demonstrating at Gardanibagh for around 30 days.
One applicant said he had applied for recruitment in 2012 after an advertisement promised employment to eligible candidates. He alleged that questions were far more difficult than the matriculation and Class 8-level qualifications indicated. Another candidate said 9,720 applicants had submitted applications in 2023 and appeared for the examination in 2024, but no appointments had been made. The protesters also accused the government of failing to send representatives to hear their demands.
Police erected barricades at several points along the protest routes and deployed additional personnel to control movement and maintain security. Water cannons and riot-control vehicles were kept on standby. The demonstrations reflect continued mobilisation by Patna job aspirants seeking faster recruitment and resolution of examination-related grievances. Bihar’s government had earlier introduced changes to the TRE-4 process, including a decision to conduct the examination in a single phase, following protests by teacher-recruitment candidates.
