Pijush Denies SoP Rumors on Visits to Zubeen’s Cremation Site
The Assam government has firmly rejected social media claims that a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) was issued for visiting the cremation site of the late renowned singer Zubeen Garg. On Monday, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika took to X to clarify that the circulating news is “fake and baseless,” urging people not to spread misinformation. Hazarika stated, “The Assam Government has not issued any SoP regarding visiting Zubeen Da’s cremation site.”
This clarification followed the emergence of several unverified posts online that suggested the government had set specific guidelines for visitors at Zubeen Garg’s resting place. The rumors quickly gained traction, leading to confusion among fans and the general public.
Officials from the state’s Information and Public Relations Department also confirmed that no official communication concerning visitation guidelines had been released. They urged the public to verify information with authentic sources before sharing it.
Since Garg’s death, thousands of fans have flocked to his cremation site daily to pay their respects. However, the government has not yet provided an official statement regarding crowd management or visitation rules at the location. Hazarika’s swift response is viewed as a necessary measure to combat the spread of misinformation during a sensitive time when public sentiment is heightened and calls for justice for the late artist persist.
