Discover the Thrilling Journey of the New King in “নবহা ৰজা”
The demand for justice for popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg is resonating across the state. Artists and the general public have united in this call. Jubin Baruah, a former co-singer of Zubeen, recently shared a poignant post that includes a poem by Dr. Parthasarathi Mohanty, the Commissioner of Police in Guwahati. In his post, Jubin Baruah reflects on how the essence of his feelings resonates through Mohanty’s poetry.
In the poem titled A King on the Throne, it begins by narrating the story of a king who ruled over a land, yet he did not possess the true essence of a king. He lacked a sword and a crown, and instead, he mingled with the people, expressing their emotions through songs. This king was the ruler of melodies, embodying the spirit of his land.
The poem highlights that while there was no shortage of aspiration to find a ruler, madness ensued as people searched for a foundation to establish a kingdom. Many sought opportunities for power, while others delivered excellent performances that tugged at the hearts of the populace. Yet, the people were left searching, yearning for something more.
Then came a day when everything fell apart; chaos erupted. The skies shattered, and people were left adrift, unable to find solid ground. They became mad in their pursuit of hope. Aspiring kings stirred into action, and skilled artists began to rise.
Despite their desperation for vengeance, they failed to seize the opportunity to reclaim their rightful place. It became a time marked by attempts to seize power, seeking relevance and striving to restore acceptance. This hypothetical king, striving for recognition, seemingly could not grasp the tears of the people who called for melodies and clung to the hope of sustaining their songs.
Unaware of what true rulership meant, they failed to understand that the ruler of music had already touched their hearts long before taking the stage. That timeless melody never fades; it resonates in rainy whispers and breezes, echoing in both dawns and dusks. He was indeed the king of hearts, the king of melodies, and the king who understood emotions.
Yet, he was not seated on a throne.
