Triumphant Milestone: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Historic 1000-Run Achievement in International Cricket This Year
India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player to cross the 1,000-run mark in international cricket for this calendar year. This feat was accomplished during the second T20I match against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on July 28.
During the match, Jaiswal scored an impressive 30 runs off just 15 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, as India chased a target of 78 runs set by the DLS method. His runs came at an extraordinary strike rate of 200.00.
So far this year, Jaiswal has amassed 1,023 runs with an average of 63.93 and a strike rate of 94.54, including two centuries and five fifties in just 13 matches. His highest score stands at an impressive 214.
Importantly, these accomplishments have been achieved through his appearances in Test and T20I formats, as he has not yet debuted in ODIs. His closest competitors this year are Kusal Mendis, with 888 runs in 26 matches, and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran, who has scored 844 runs in 25 matches.
In Tests, Jaiswal has scored 740 runs over 11 innings in six matches, averaging 74.00, and has made two double centuries and three fifties. In T20Is, he has accumulated 283 runs in seven matches, at an average of 47.16 and a strike rate of 175.77, with a personal best score of 77.
India has already secured the T20I series against Sri Lanka with a 2-0 lead.
