Exciting Surge: WEF President Brende Anticipates 7-8% GDP Growth for India Through Transformative Reforms
During the 55th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, WEF President and CEO Børge Brende projected a robust economic outlook for India. Brende forecasted a potential GDP growth of 7 to 8 percent for India, underpinned by a surge in investments driven by ongoing economic reforms. In an interview with an Indian television channel, Brende highlighted India’s strong growth potential, noting the country’s impressive 6 percent growth this year. He expressed confidence that with continued reforms in areas such as infrastructure, education, and research and development, India’s growth rate could again ascend to 7 or 8 percent.
The five-day WEF meeting, which commenced today in Davos, seeks to explore strategies for relaunching global growth, leveraging new technologies, and enhancing social and economic resilience. This prestigious gathering convenes nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries, including around 350 governmental leaders. India’s delegation comprises key figures such as Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan, and Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary.
