Breaking: Fearless Manipur Police Successfully Capture Notorious UPPK Militant in Kakching
The Manipur Police have intensified their operations to maintain security across the state. On January 18, law enforcement apprehended a member of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), identified as 35-year-old Sougrakpam Kingson Singh, in Hiyanglam Lai Pangamba, Kakching district.
In a separate incident on National Highway 2, police intercepted two Meitei youths who were accidentally nearing the Kanglatongbi Forest gate due to unfamiliarity with the area. The officers at the Kanglatongbi Forest gate Naka checkpoint promptly halted and safely redirected the youths back towards Imphal, ensuring their secure passage.
Simultaneously, security forces have conducted frequent search operations and area domination exercises in susceptible hill and valley districts to bolster security measures. These efforts include overseeing the movement of 169 and 293 vehicles carrying essential goods along NH-2 and NH-37, respectively. To guarantee their unimpeded transit, strict security measures have been enforced at vulnerable locations, with security convoys escorting vehicles through sensitive stretches of these highways.
In a robust security framework, a network of 106 Naka checkpoints has been established across various districts of Manipur, spanning both hill and valley regions, to monitor and manage vehicular mobility. Remarkably, despite the widespread installation of these checkpoints, no detentions were reported, underscoring the preventive rather than punitive focus of the operations.
These comprehensive security initiatives underscore the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety and smooth movement of its residents and essential supplies amidst ongoing challenges in the region.
