Manipur Police Heroically Uncover Shocking Illegal Liquor and Arms Cache in Daring Raids
On January 18, Manipur police, in a continued effort to combat liquor smuggling, conducted a major operation in the Pallel area of Kakching district. This operation resulted in the confiscation of a large cache of illicit liquor, including 15 IMFL quarter bottles, 8 IMFL full bottles, 21 IMFL half bottles, and 186 liters of DIC liquor. This significant seizure marks another step in the state’s ongoing campaign against illegal alcohol distribution.
Simultaneously, in a separate operation aimed at enforcing regional security, police and security forces undertook search and area domination exercises in the foothills of Ushoipokpi, under Lilong Police Station, Thoubal district. These efforts led to the recovery of various arms and ammunition, which included a Single Bore Barrel (Sniper), a country-made rifle, an Amogh Carbine magazine, three .303 magazines, a high-explosive hand grenade, and a detonator. Additionally, the authorities seized a range of live rounds and empty cases of different calibers, including 7.62 x 39mm, .32, and 9mm, along with six .303 and four 7.62mm (SLR) empty cases. Other items recovered were a Green Smoke 80MK1, two Stun Shells, three Tear Smoke Shells, and communications equipment, comprising three TYT radio sets with antennas, three chargers, and an adaptor.
These decisive operations underscore the commitment of the Manipur police and security forces to tackle the interconnected issues of liquor smuggling and illegal arms possession, fostering safer and more lawful communities within the state.
