Empowering Tripura: Government’s Unyielding Commitment to Welfare and Security Shines During Police Week
The Tripura government has reiterated its dedication to welfare and security through a series of events marking the 151st anniversary of Tripura Police. Kicking off the celebration, Tripura Police Week 2025 began on January 16 with Chief Minister Manik Saha introducing a comprehensive modernization strategy for the state’s law enforcement agencies. This initiative promises to integrate advanced technologies such as AI-powered control rooms, drones, and smart CCTV systems to bolster public safety and policing efficiency.
Director General of Police Amitav Ranjan highlighted the week-long festivities, which include creative programs like drawing competitions and a unique opportunity for children to act as Officer-in-Charge for a day. These outreach projects are intended to foster community engagement and will continue throughout the year. Ranjan emphasized the importance of these initiatives, which previously tackled issues such as cyber awareness and drug abuse across villages and marketplaces, and encouraged children to pursue their dreams with confidence.
Alongside these events, an art and craft exhibition was launched at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala, showcasing 252 artworks by police personnel, revealing the officers’ diverse talents beyond their traditional roles.
During the Police Week Parade-2025, Chief Minister Saha praised law enforcement for achieving a remarkable 19.3 percent drop in the crime rate in 2024, the lowest in a decade. He also announced improved allowances for rations, uniforms, and dearness to reinforce the government’s commitment to police welfare.
This multifaceted approach not only honors the contributions of the state’s police personnel but also highlights the government’s proactive efforts to enhance community relations and security measures in Tripura.
