Urgent Alert: Train Movements Disrupted in Guwahati by Determined Jorai Picketers – Full Details Inside
Train operations have been disrupted today due to a rail blockade at Jorai Railway Station, led by the Greater Cooch Behar People’s Association (GCPA). The protest began at approximately 6:45 AM and saw the gathering of over 5,000 demonstrators, effectively blocking all railway lines by 8:00 AM.
In response, the Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway, in collaboration with state authorities, has mobilized more than 500 personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police to maintain order and prevent any incidents. The blockade has necessitated the cancellation and rerouting of several trains.
To mitigate inconvenience to commuters, N.F. Railway has facilitated alternative transport via buses and Tata Sumo vehicles. Trains rerouted include the UP trains such as the 15657 Up Brahmaputra Mail and the 15959 Up Kamrup Express, diverted through New Coochbehar (NCB), Golakganj (GKJ), and Fakiragram (FKM). Similarly, several down trains, including the 20503 Dn Rajdhani Express and the 22449 Dn Guwahati – New Delhi Express, have been redirected through FKM – GKJ – NCB.
Cancellations feature the Vande Bharat Express routes 22227/22228 between New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati, and the 15704/15703 Bongaigaon – New Jalpaiguri Express, both scheduled for today.
The disruption is deeply regrettable, with efforts being made to assist affected passengers efficiently. Overall, authorities are striving to restore regular train services while ensuring passenger safety amid this ongoing situation.
