Swami, who was from the 2023 batch of the CRPF, was posted at Gate 2 of Lok Bhavan and attached to F Company of the 225 Battalion.
According to police, the incident took place around 10:30 am near the northern gate of the Governor’s official residence. Swami allegedly used his service AK-47 rifle to shoot himself. He was suspected to have shot himself in the jaw with his service weapon.
His body was taken to Aizawl Civil Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted. Police said his body was expected to be transported to his native place in Jaipur district of Rajasthan on Friday. The deceased was reportedly a native of Haryana.
