The Election Department in Tripura has pushed back the publication of the final voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by nearly two months, with the revised schedule now setting the release date at April 7, 2027, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura. The final roll was originally slated to be published on February 15.
Under the revised timeline announced on October 29, the qualifying date for the exercise will remain unchanged at January 1, 2027. Preparatory work, including training of personnel and printing of materials, is scheduled to take place from December 15 to 24, 2026, after which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out house-to-house visits from December 26, 2026, to January 25, 2027, to verify and update voter records.
The rationalisation of polling stations across the state must be completed by January 27, 2027, with the draft electoral roll set for publication on February 1. Once the draft is out, voters will have a month-long window, from February 1 to March 2, 2027, to file claims and objections regarding their inclusion, exclusion or details in the rolls. The process of issuing notices and disposing of these claims and objections will continue until April 1.
The Special Intensive Revision forms part of the broader electoral roll preparation process ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle in Tripura. The revised dates lay out the successive stages of verification, correction and finalisation of voter records in the state, giving the administration additional time to ensure the rolls are accurate and up to date before they are finalised.
The extension of the timeline is expected to allow for more thorough verification of entries during the BLO visits and the claims-and-objections phase, both of which are central to ensuring that eligible voters are not left off the list and that ineligible names are weeded out. Voters are advised to keep track of the revised dates, particularly the February 1 to March 2 window, when they can submit claims and objections concerning their electoral records.
