4 CISF Personnel Killed in Kathua Fratricide; Accused Arrested
Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening after a colleague allegedly opened fire on them at the Sewa-III hydroelectric power project in Mashka village, Basohli, near the Himachal Pradesh border, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 7.30 pm. According to preliminary information, Head Constable Abhidesh Kumar allegedly fired his service rifle following an argument with fellow personnel. The four officers sustained critical injuries and later died at a nearby NHPC hospital.
The deceased were Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar.
Kumar was overpowered by his colleagues and arrested after the shooting, authorities said. The service weapon used in the incident was also seized as part of the investigation.
Senior CISF and police officers rushed to the site, where they began examining the circumstances leading to the argument and subsequent firing. Officials said the exact sequence of events was still being ascertained.
