In India’s domestic market, petrol and diesel prices at state-run outlets remained stable today, reflecting ongoing volatility in aviation fuel and commercial gas prices. As of 8:41 AM, retail fuel rates across major cities showed no change compared to previous days. In New Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per litre, while diesel stands at ₹87.67. Bengaluru reports petrol at ₹102.92 and diesel at ₹90.99, with Mumbai at ₹103.54 for petrol and ₹90.03 for diesel. Kolkata’s rates are ₹105.41 for petrol and ₹92.02 for diesel. In Chennai, prices reach ₹100.85 for petrol and ₹92.39 for diesel, and Hyderabad registers the highest, with petrol at ₹107.46 and diesel at ₹95.70.

On the global front, oil prices have receded from their recent peaks as markets seek a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Currently, Brent crude is trading between $94.75 and $95.60 per barrel, while U.S. WTI crude fluctuates around $90.90 to $91.90. Russia’s Urals crude is priced at $117.46 per barrel, exhibiting a decline of 2.78%. Despite a decline of approximately 10% over the past week, Brent prices remain about 44% higher compared to a year ago, largely due to past surges.

In response to the ongoing crisis, the Government of India has ensured a 100% supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to domestic consumers. This strategic prioritization follows disruptions in energy supplies caused by the developments in West Asia. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, highlighted that the government has implemented various measures to stabilize the energy landscape and maintain essential services. “Due to the West Asia crisis, India’s energy supplies were also affected. However, the Indian government has taken effective steps, ensuring 100% supply for domestic PNG and LPG consumers,” she stated.

Additionally, City Gas Distribution companies have been instructed to maintain full gas supplies to critical industries, achieving 95% fulfillment of the natural gas needs in the fertilizer sector. In an effort to combat market malpractices, authorities have established control rooms across all states and union territories. Monitoring teams have conducted around 2,100 surprise inspections, leading to penalties for 237 distributors and the suspension of 58 others to deter hoarding and black market activities.

As for international navigation, the first 48 hours of a U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports saw no ships successfully pass through, according to the U.S. military. Nine vessels reportedly complied with U.S. directives to return to Iranian ports or nearby coastal areas. Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that a sanctioned Iranian supertanker managed to navigate the blockade and approach Imam Khomeini port, although details surrounding the vessel remain sparse. Iran’s joint military command issued a stark warning that it would halt trade flows in the Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Red Sea if the U.S. blockade persists.

With these developments, the Indian government seeks to reassure its citizens, emphasizing that sufficient fuel supplies are available and urging responsible consumption of LPG, petrol, and diesel amidst the ongoing crisis.
