Urgent: Massive Fire Devastates Walong, Arunachal — Minister Warns
A massive fire swept through Walong town in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh on the night of February 13, sparking panic among residents and prompting an immediate safety response from local authorities. Emergency teams remain on the ground working to contain the blaze while officials assess the full extent of the damage.
Local MLA and minister Dasanglu Pul expressed deep concern about the scale of the fire and its impact on the community, urging residents and travellers to exercise extreme caution and strictly follow safety advisories issued by authorities.
“Safety of local communities must remain the top priority,” Pul said, stressing that people should avoid any reckless actions that could endanger lives, property or the surrounding environment.
Describing Walong as a shared natural asset, Pul appealed to inhabitants to act responsibly and support containment efforts. She warned that anyone found deliberately causing harm or attempting to disrupt peace in the area would face strict legal action.
Pul also called on citizens to stand together and cooperate with frontline responders to ensure the well‑being of residents across Anjaw district and the state.
Authorities continue to evaluate the situation as emergency operations proceed in the affected areas. Residents have been asked to follow official guidance and remain vigilant while further information becomes available.
