
Major Bust: Assam Rifles and DRI Halt Gold Biscuit and Currency Smuggling in Agartala
Assam Rifles, in a coordinated operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), successfully seized a significant cache of gold biscuits and unaccounted currency in Agartala, Tripura, on January 7, 2026. The operation took place in the areas of Shantipara and Dhaleshwar, following actionable intelligence received by the Assam Rifles.
During the raid, approximately 14 kilograms of gold biscuits, valued at around ₹19 crore, along with Indian currency amounting to ₹2.87 crore, were recovered. This operation underscores the proactive approach of the Assam Rifles and their commitment to combatting illegal activities in the region.
The seized gold and currency have been turned over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and potential legal action.
