A tragic road accident in Duraisamypuram, Tenkasi district, has claimed the lives of a police constable and his five-year-old son. The incident occurred on Friday evening when R. Kannan, 34, a police constable stationed at Tenkasi, was riding home on his motorcycle with his wife and two children after a visit to Kadayanallur.
As Kannan’s family traveled on their two-wheeler, a car, reportedly trying to overtake a truck, collided head-on with them. The force of the impact caused the family to lose control and spill onto the road, according to police reports.
Immediate assistance was sought, and all four family members were rushed to Tenkasi Government Hospital. Tragically, K. Ram Krish, Kannan’s youngest son, was declared dead on arrival. Subsequent to the incident, post-mortem examinations for both Kannan and Ram Krish were conducted, and their bodies have been returned to the family. Local authorities have registered a case at Ilathur police station and apprehended the 24-year-old car driver, L. Subash, from Kadayanallur.
