More than 5,000 residents from various villages in Gurla mandal, Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, are voicing their strong opposition to the establishment of a proposed greenfield steel plant nearby. Rambabu noted that protests will persist until the proposal for the steel plant is revoked.
Despite the outcry, government officials assert that the land allocated for the steel plant is government property and should not interfere with the villagers’ futures. However, the residents remain unconvinced, citing fears that their agricultural livelihoods are at stake.
