Rev Up Your Adrenaline: Lamborghinis & Porsches on Sikkim’s Historic Circuit
Sikkim is poised to host an exceptional automotive event as 17 elite supercars, featuring brands like Lamborghini and Porsche, are set to traverse the state’s rugged mountain terrain from December 12 to 15. This thrilling rally is organized under the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative, which aims to promote battlefield and border tourism, offering participants an exhilarating experience of Sikkim’s breathtaking high-altitude routes and historic landscapes.
The supercar convoy will kick off from Sukna in West Bengal on December 12 and will journey through a circuit that includes Siliguri, Gangtok, Cho La, Nathu La, Gnathang, and Zuluk, culminating on December 15. Participants can expect challenging steep climbs and winding mountain passes along this strategically significant route.
Organized by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route Group and supported by the Black Cat Division of the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps along with the Government of Sikkim, this self-driven and self-funded event aims to highlight Sikkim as a premier destination for adventure driving in India.
A key location on the route is Cho La, reaching an altitude of 5,420 meters, a site of strategic importance from the 1967 Indo-China clashes, which has increasingly attracted tourists interested in battlefield tourism experiences.
Considering the rally, temporary traffic restrictions will be implemented on NH-10, the state’s primary highway, on December 12 and 15. Heavy vehicle movement will be prohibited on the 52-kilometer Sevoke–Rangpo stretch from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on December 12, and again from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 15, according to official notifications.
