Excitement Builds as Telangana GP Polls 2025 Kick Off Thursday: Counting Starts at 2 PM!
Arrangements are in full swing for the Telangana Gram Panchayat Elections 2025, set to take place in Sangareddy. The first phase of the elections is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, with polling hours from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Votes will be counted starting at 2:00 p.m. Subsequent phases are expected to occur on December 14 and December 17, allowing residents multiple opportunities to participate in the democratic process.
For the initial phase, elections will cover 4,236 Gram Panchayats and 37,440 wards. However, 3,836 Gram Panchayats and 27,960 wards will actively participate, as 395 Sarpanches and 9,331 Ward members have already been elected unopposed. In a proactive approach, the election campaigning officially concluded at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, ensuring a focused environment leading up to the polls.
Nagarkurnool District Collector Badavath Santhosh emphasized that security measures have been implemented to safeguard a peaceful voting experience. Meetings with contesting candidates were conducted to clarify procedures and expectations. A prohibition on alcohol sales in the relevant mandals will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. on December 9 until the announcement of results, further contributing to an orderly electoral process.
The election landscape for the remaining phases also looks promising. The second phase is set for December 14, covering 4,333 Sarpanch posts across 38,350 wards, while the third phase on December 17 will address 4,159 Sarpanch posts within 36,452 wards.
In preparation for the elections, Telangana State Election Commission officials conducted a video conference with District Collectors-designated District Election Authorities-to discuss logistics. Sangareddy Collector P. Pravinya reported that polling materials have been dispatched to selected Mandal Parishad offices designated as Distribution Centres. Proper security arrangements have been established to ensure that polling staff safely transport these materials to their designated polling stations.
As the campaign wraps up, Wanaparthy Collector Adarsh Surabhi has implemented a reporting schedule requiring updates at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. once polling commences. Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDO) are tasked with ensuring that computer operators are available to facilitate these reports.
On a final note, Nirmal District General Observer Ayesha Masrat Khanam confirmed that nearly all voter slips have been distributed, and arrangements for webcasting the polling process are intact, ensuring transparency and accessibility for remote observers.
As voters prepare to participate in this critical local electoral milestone, the stage is set for a robust democratic engagement in Telangana.
