Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes for Chhath Puja on October 25, marking the commencement of the four-day festival with the inaugural ritual of ‘Nahay-Khay.’ The celebration, deeply rooted in tradition, saw devotees across the country participating in rituals on this auspicious day. In a follow-up post, he expressed gratitude for having visited Begusarai the previous day, where he paid tribute to legendary folk artist Sharda Sinha. “Bihar Kokila Sharda Sinha ji has had a close connection with Begusarai. Sharda Sinha ji and many folk artists of Bihar have connected the festival of Chhath to a different sentiment through their songs,” Modi remarked. To celebrate the occasion, he shared traditional Chhath songs, inviting everyone to experience their enchanting melodies.
Chhath Puja, dedicated to the Sun God, is celebrated after Diwali, continuing for six days of the lunar month of Kartika. It signifies the devotion of the people in seeking blessings for prosperity and well-being. The festivities culminate on October 28, with the main celebrations set to occur on October 27. According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious times for the festival include sunrise at 6:30 AM and sunset at 5:46 PM on the primary celebration day. Shashthi Tithi is set to begin at 6:04 AM on October 27 and will conclude at 7:59 AM on October 28.
