Exciting Matchup: Pakistan Joins FIH Pro League, Faces India Soon!
New Delhi, Aug 29: The Pakistan hockey team is set to participate in the upcoming seventh season of the men’s FIH Pro League. This development paves the way for potential matchups against India at neutral venues during a tournament traditionally held in a home-and-away format. Pakistan will join a competitive lineup that includes Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain, although a detailed schedule for the season is still pending.
Pakistan earned its place in the league after a successful run in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup held in Malaysia earlier this year. While New Zealand clinched the cup by defeating Pakistan in the final, they later announced that they would decline the invitation to join the Pro League this time. Consequently, in line with the regulations, the FIH extended an invitation to Pakistan as the runners-up, which the team has officially accepted, as stated by the FIH in a recent press release.
