Mumbai is set to host the India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, a prominent global maritime event, from October 27. This five-day conference is expected to attract approximately 100,000 participants from over 100 countries, underscoring India’s emerging role as a maritime hub. Rajesh Asati, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, announced that ministerial delegations from seven partner nations will be in attendance.
The identified partner nations include Denmark, the UAE, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, and Singapore. Asati stated that alongside these partnerships, ministerial representatives from more than 20 additional countries are in the process of being confirmed, indicating broad international interest in the event.
Asati elaborated during a recent roadshow for IMW 2025, highlighting the collaboration with various stakeholders, including industry, media, and knowledge partners. While he focused on the seven key partner countries, he noted significant involvement from nations such as Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, with potential participation also anticipated from the USA and Australia. “We are targeting more than 100 countries, with participation around 1 lakh delegates, 500 exhibitors, and investment opportunities exceeding ₹10 lakh crores,” he stated.
The IMW 2025 will also feature the annual Global Maritime India Summit. Each aspect of the event has garnered extensive support, with over 25 partners engaged in different thematic sessions, which will take place across multiple venues in Mumbai.
As noted by Asati, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing India’s maritime capabilities. He emphasized, “We are working jointly with our partners to ensure a successful event that caters to diverse industry interests.”
