Guwahati: Assam down town University (AdtU) marked a significant milestone on August 12 with the launch of its ‘Online Education’ initiative at the Council Room in its campus. The ceremony began with the lighting of an auspicious lamp, symbolizing the victory of knowledge over ignorance and reflecting the university’s commitment to providing accessible quality education.
The event featured distinguished guests, including Gariasi Dutta, Resident Trustee; Dr. Ashim Barman, Registrar; Dr. Seema Sarma, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management; Anjan Jyoti Das, General Manager (Development); Nitul Jyoti Das, Deputy Registrar of Academics; Dr. Mrinal Goswami, Deputy Director of E-Learning and Technical; and Indraneel Sekhar Nath, Assistant Manager. Their participation underscored the collective commitment of the university’s leadership to advance its vision and objectives.
In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) N. C. Talukdar, the Vice-Chancellor of AdtU, emphasized the transformative potential of online education in today’s fast-changing world. He highlighted the initiative’s importance in providing learners from various regions with access to flexible, affordable, and world-class higher education, which aligns with global academic trends and the university’s vision of inclusive excellence.

Keynote speaker Dr. Mala Dutta, Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education, shared the initiative’s vision, program offerings, and robust technological framework. She elaborated on the integration of cutting-edge learning management systems, immersive digital content, and dedicated student support systems aimed at creating engaging and outcome-focused learning experiences.
