
FM Sitharaman Celebrates SBI’s Remarkable 70 Years of Service Excellence
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extended her congratulations to the State Bank of India (SBI) as it marks 70 years of service today. In her social media announcement, she emphasized the vast reach of SBI, boasting over 23,000 branches, 78,000 Customer Service Points (CSPs), and 64,000 ATMs across the country. She praised the bank’s digital transformation over the past decade, noting it has significantly benefited its customers.
The Finance Minister underscored SBI’s pivotal role in nation-building, highlighting its support for 1.5 crore farmers, 1.3 crore women-led Self-Help Groups, 32 lakh street vendors under the PM SVANidhi scheme, 23 lakh MSMEs, and countless artisans across various initiatives. Additionally, she pointed out that SBI manages more than 15 crore Jan Dhan accounts, over 14 crore beneficiaries of the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, more than 1 crore recipients of the Atal Pension Yojana, and 7 crore beneficiaries of the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
Sitharaman expressed hope that this historic financial institution will continue to innovate and empower as India advances toward ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
