Urgent Warning: Explosives Detected Before Yogi Adityanath’s Bahraich Visit-BJP MLA Exposes Shocking Security Lapse!
Two days ahead of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s planned visit to Bahraich, concern has erupted over a significant security breach involving Alpha Geo India Limited, a company authorized by the Union Petroleum Ministry. Officials report that the firm allegedly utilized large quantities of explosives for drilling activities without notifying local authorities, raising alarms among residents and public representatives.
Local BJP MLA Surveshvar Singh labeled the situation a “serious security lapse” and called for the cancellation of the chief minister’s trip. According to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Alok Prasad, the company, tasked with oil and gas exploration, employed ammonium nitrate explosives during its operations. In doing so, they neglected to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) and failed to communicate with the local administration, which has fueled public unrest and apprehension.
After realizing the situation, police and administrative personnel swiftly arrived at the site to initiate an inquiry. Prasad confirmed that about 200 workers from Alpha Geo India Limited, most of whom hail from West Bengal and face communication barriers with locals, were on-site working in various shifts across multiple villages. In response to the rising tensions, all employees were relocated to the Hardi police station for their safety.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari stated that the drilling had reached depths of up to 30 meters using ammonium nitrate, all conducted without prior notification to either the villagers or local authorities. “Today, approximately 50 to 60 employees engaged in fieldwork were summoned for questioning. No one has been detained at this point. A decision regarding filing a First Information Report (FIR) will be made following further investigations,” Tiwari asserted.
Amid growing unrest, Mahsi MLA Sureshvar Singh expressed alarm over the potential dangers posed by the presence of hundreds of outsiders and 500 kilograms of explosives in the district, particularly with the chief minister’s visit looming. He pointed out that intelligence reports had warned of possible infiltration attempts by terrorists across the Indo-Nepal border. “Imagine the security risk at an event where the chief minister-and possibly the Prime Minister-will be present, commemorating Maharaja Suheldev,” Singh remarked.
In light of the situation, Singh reached out to the state’s Principal Secretary (Home), Sanjay Prasad, urging him to postpone the chief minister’s visit until a comprehensive resolution is achieved. Echoing concerns about security, he emphasized the gravity of the situation and the lapse in protocol.
Acknowledging the oversight, Kuldeep Sharma, a representative from Alpha Geo India Limited, admitted that the company should have re-notified local authorities before commencing the work that involved explosives. “We had initially informed them back in February. However, we made a mistake by not informing them again before starting the work on a Sunday,” he told the news agency PTI.
The unfolding incidents underscore the critical need for clear communication and adherence to safety protocols, particularly when public safety is at stake. As local officials and law enforcement continue their investigation, the ramifications of this security breach remain to be seen in the context of the chief minister’s upcoming visit.
