Congress MLAs from Telangana, particularly those representing the Madiga community, met with All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan in Hyderabad on Wednesday to advocate for cabinet positions in the upcoming government expansion. In a memorandum presented to Natarajan, these legislators emphasized the historical and ongoing support the Madiga community has shown towards the Congress party, notably during the recent Telangana Assembly elections.

Manakondur MLA K. Satyanarayana stressed the need for representation, stating, “We have submitted a request to give our community a chance in the Cabinet.” He announced plans to travel to Delhi on Thursday to meet with the AICC president to further their demands. The MLAs highlighted the significant population of the Madiga community among Scheduled Castes, arguing that this demographic’s contributions warrant ministerial representation.

Dharmapuri MLA and Government Whip Adluri Laxman reinforced this sentiment, saying, “We demand that Madigas be given ministerial posts.” He referenced a commitment from party leader Rahul Gandhi, who stated that political representation should reflect population proportions. Several MLAs from the Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituency, including G. Vivek, K. Premsagar Rao, and Makkan Singh Thakur, joined the call for recognition based on their loyalty and contributions to the party.

Ramagundam MLA Raj Thakur, identifying himself as a representative from the most backward caste, voiced his dedication to the party since his NSUI days. He mentioned submitting a petition to the Chief Minister, seeking both a ministerial position and the role of party working president.

Leaders from various regions, including Adilabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, and Malkajgiri, were scheduled to meet with Natarajan to address the needs of their constituents and discuss the upcoming cabinet expansion. Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and TPCC working president T. Jagga Reddy from Medak also attended the meeting with Natarajan.

Speaking to the media, Jagga Reddy described Natarajan as being on a “doctor duty” to investigate and resolve issues faced by party leaders. He expressed confidence that any challenges encountered would be addressed collaboratively with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and PCC chief Mahesh Goud.

Later that evening, Natarajan conferred with Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders, underscoring the party’s proactive approach in responding to the concerns raised by its members. This gathering reflects the party’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and representation, particularly for communities that have historically supported Congress in Telangana.

The discussions are crucial as the party navigates the complexities of governance and strives to ensure that all voices within its coalition are recognized in the cabinet reshuffle scheduled for the near future. As the situation evolves, the demand for equitable representation continues to resonate among the ranks of Congress legislators.
