Notably, Comorin, which gained a loyal following in Gurugram for its modern approach to regional Indian comfort food, has recently made its debut in Mumbai. Located in Nilaya Anthology, a new concept store by Asian Paints in Lower Parel, Comorin showcases a philosophy that celebrates India’s street food and regional specialties through a contemporary lens.
Under the operation of EHV International, part of Old World Hospitality, Comorin has earned a reputation for evoking both nostalgia and curiosity. Brand Chef Dhiraj Dargan crafts a menu that balances city-specific dishes with universal comfort, inviting diners to explore. Alongside this culinary creativity, Varun Sharma, the head of bars at EHV International, introduces innovative cocktails to the Mumbai venue. The bar offers sous-vide infusions, cocktails on tap, and various house-made sodas, continuing Comorin’s legacy of pushing boundaries.
The design of the Mumbai location, while rooted in the identity of its Gurugram predecessor, is not a mere replication. Collaborating with London-based Russell Sage Studio, creative director Rishiv Khattar tailored the space to reflect its new environment, using deeper color palettes and tactile materials. Indian wood and rich fabrics envelop the interior, while clever zoning adds to an inviting, dynamic atmosphere.
The menu at Comorin certainly stands out, offering a delightful array of dishes. It features intriguing pairings such as bheja fry served with khasta roti and an innovative chocolate dessert with a Monaco biscuit crumble. Signature items include the Smoked Kathal Galawat, which showcases jackfruit with a subtly sweet mango chili chutney, and the Kalari Cheese Bun, enriched with sweet chili onions. A standout dish, the Andhra Gongura Chicken, delivers punchy flavors with crispy murukku, blending tradition with modern flair.
Desserts continue to impress, with Cheeni Malai Toast providing a blend of nostalgia and innovation. The Comorin Cassata, infused with jamun, mulberry, and salted chocolate, tantalizes with flavors that evoke cherished memories. Additionally, the Mumbai menu features around 10–15 exclusive dishes tailored for the city, showcasing a thoughtful approach to regional flavors.
Cocktail offerings complement the culinary adventure perfectly. The Fennel Paloma, a refreshing blend of fennel-infused tequila and grapefruit, is a notable highlight. The Mango and Fig Highball, featuring a choice of gin or vodka, presents a vibrant mix grounded by the tropical essence of mango and the depth of fig. Meanwhile, the Nashik Spritz offers a local twist on Venetian spritzes with a harmonious blend of gin, green apple, and house-made limoncello.
With meals for two averaging around ₹4,000 plus taxes, Comorin presents a unique dining experience worth exploring.
