Indrajaal Infra: Shielding Critical Infrastructure from Drone Threats

Indrajaal, India’s foremost autonomous drone defense company, announced the launch of Indrajaal Infra on Thursday. This new product line aims to protect critical infrastructure, including nuclear power plants, oil refineries, ports, airports, and energy grids, from drone attacks. Built on the advanced SkyOSTM platform, Indrajaal Infra offers autonomous, real-time airspace security across expansive areas of up to 4,000 square kilometers, as stated by the Hyderabad-based tech firm’s representatives.

The system employs AI-driven threat detection combined with a multi-layered defense strategy, integrating sensors, spoofers, jammers, and command intelligence to provide 24/7 autonomous protection against unauthorized drones. Currently, Indrajaal Infra is operational at a strategic naval port in Gujarat, after successfully completing trials amid recent cross-border tensions.

Deployment is also in progress at India’s largest naval base in Karnataka, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s maritime and industrial defense capabilities. This launch comes at a crucial time, considering the recent uptick in drone-related threats during the India-Pakistan conflict, which targeted sensitive assets near the western border. While many drone incursions were intercepted, they revealed significant weaknesses in traditional surveillance and perimeter defenses.

“Peacetime readiness is wartime insurance. The cost of protecting critical assets today is far lower than the cost of rebuilding them after an attack,” remarked Kiran Raju, the founder and CEO of Indrajaal. He emphasized that Indrajaal Infra aims to ensure operational continuity, national resilience, and industrial sovereignty in a rapidly changing threat landscape.

The rise in asymmetric drone warfare globally has drastically reduced the cost of inflicting strategic damage. Incidents like the Pelham oil terminal attack and energy infrastructure strikes in Sudan and Ukraine demonstrate that both state and non-state actors can disrupt billion-dollar assets using inexpensive commercial drones.

In related news, Kolkata recently experienced a sighting of 6 to 7 unidentified drones moving across the sky from southwest to northeast at the start of the week. This prompted the Kolkata Police Special Task Force to contact the Eastern Command for further investigation. Both the STF and the Indian Army have initiated separate inquiries, and the Ministry of Defence has also launched an investigation into reports of these drone-like objects observed in the area.
