Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, Mano Thangaraj, announced significant advancements for Aavin during the inauguration of a new paneer haat in Coimbatore on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The minister revealed that Aavin plans to ramp up its milk handling capacity from 35 lakh litres to nearly 40 lakh litres daily within the next month or two. This increase aims to support the growing demand for dairy products in the state and promote local farming.

Addressing the media, Thangaraj highlighted the state government’s initiative to extend loans to cattle farmers, encouraging them to expand their livestock operations. “By supporting our farmers, we aim not only to boost milk production but also improve the livelihoods of those in the dairy sector,” he stated.

In a related development, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin recently inaugurated Aavin’s new paneer production facility in Coimbatore, which operates at an impressive capacity of producing two tonnes of paneer daily from 13,000 litres of milk. This paneer will then be distributed across the state, meeting the rising demand for high-quality dairy products.

The newly inaugurated paneer haat is designed to offer a variety of paneer-based products, with a target of selling 50 kg daily. Thangaraj noted that this initiative not only provides fresh and locally sourced products to consumers but also boosts the local economy and supports farmers.

Earlier in the day, Thangaraj visited the Aavin plant in Coimbatore, where he engaged in discussions with officials about operational strategies and future expansion plans. The minister’s commitment to enhancing dairy production in Tamil Nadu reflects the government’s broader objective of fostering agricultural growth and improving food security.

The initiatives under Aavin are seen as crucial steps towards achieving self-sufficiency in dairy production, ultimately benefiting both producers and consumers in the region. By prioritizing local sourcing and production, the Tamil Nadu government aims to strengthen its dairy industry while supporting rural livelihoods.

As dairy consumption continues to rise, the measures announced by Minister Thangaraj signal a proactive approach to meet both current and future market demands, ensuring that Aavin remains a pivotal player in the state’s dairy sector. This focus on innovation, sustainability, and farmer welfare is set to reinforce the importance of the dairy industry to the local economy, paving the way for enhanced growth in the months to come.

The introduction of the paneer haat in Coimbatore underscores Aavin’s commitment to delivering quality dairy products while encouraging agricultural expansion and supporting local farmers’ efforts. The combination of increased production capacity and targeted initiatives is expected to usher in a new era for the state’s dairy market, positioning Aavin as a leader in the region.

Coimbatore residents and dairy consumers alike can look forward to both improved product availability and enhanced quality in the near future, thanks to these significant developments in the milk and dairy sector.
