Experience the Future: Google’s AI Virtual Try-On for Fashion!
Google has unveiled a new suite of AI-powered shopping features designed to enhance the online shopping experience by allowing users to virtually try on clothes. This innovative functionality was announced during the company’s annual I/O developers conference. The standout feature enables shoppers to upload a full-length photo of themselves, providing a realistic view of how clothing items would look on their own bodies instead of generic model images. Currently available in the US through Search Labs, this feature supports a variety of clothing items, including pants, shirts, dresses, and skirts. According to Google, the AI model utilized in this feature comprehensively understands the human body and the subtleties of clothing, such as how different materials fold, stretch, and drape.
Additionally, Google is enhancing its Gemini-powered AI Mode to create a more personalized and conversational shopping experience. When users communicate their specific product needs, the AI Mode can generate a custom panel of images and product listings tailored to those requests. The system’s ability to process multiple search parameters simultaneously facilitates targeted and nuanced results. This functionality includes a ‘query fan-out’ feature that allows for several simultaneous searches, quickly narrowing down options based on user specifications.
The newly introduced suite of AI shopping features also boasts advanced price tracking capabilities. Users can specify desired product features and price points, and Google will provide notifications when prices drop to those thresholds. Furthermore, a new “agentic” checkout feature allows Google to finalize purchases for users. By selecting the “buy for me” button and confirming the necessary details, Google will securely complete the transaction at the merchant’s website using Google Pay.
These features leverage Google’s Shopping Graph, which now includes over 50 billion product listings from well-known brands and independent shops, with two billion listings refreshed every hour to maintain up-to-date pricing and availability information. Most of these new features are expected to roll out to users in the United States in the coming months, marking a significant step forward in the integration of AI into everyday shopping experiences.
